Here we are going to work for hard surface modeling in Maya. The model is here and being used as reference image. We shall create them in Maya 2012. Go to polygon primitives and choose polygonal cylinder. Adjust its attribute level from attribute editor, now it will become just like a pie graph. Make a copy of this pie and scale the other one as smaller. Convert both pies into edge setting, now select three edges of the both pies and combine them. Right click on the object and choose bridge tool to combine them. In this way it will connect them both pies mutually.

Now the main pie is covering four sides of the plane, we need only one side, so select other three sides and hit delete them. Select the sides of the quarter part and grab them straight. Create edge loop tool to connect them with small pie. Do the same with side edges of the model, here we shall also use edge loop tool.

Finally it will become nearly square shape. Select the vertices mode and grab it to Y-axis. The side will be automatically turned. Grab the side edges slightly, and now make copy of them. Now it became base for electric machine, the smaller hole is used for holding.

Select these holding circles and hit delete. Hold the model from center, grab it toward Y-axis. The base is ready, now pulley is required to create, which will be made in next tutorial.

Learn here on this site about all modeling and animation projects working in Maya. This specific tutorial is about patch modeling of face in Maya. We are working in Maya 2010, so you also use same version of Maya. Split the viewport setting into orthographic viewport and view the model from different angles. Take polygonal cube and use it for patching. Take start from nose from front viewport at Y-axis. In this situation, the object manipulation tools are used tremendously. This cube is moved with move tool, go to side view and rotate it with rotate tool so that it set along with nose shape. Use congruent tool to split this basic cube and then extrude it from different angles. Extrude another cube side from starting cube and rotate it in side viewport for cheek and face.
Increase the face patching according to facial shape, taking different cube from extrusion. Now extrude the cube from top side and increase it toward eye and forehead. Create map of eye setting along with eyebrow.
The basic patching will be though little bit rough so reset it from extruding and rotating the cube for complete geometry of face modeling. Unhide the reference image for a while and see half of the face modeling is created and other side can be created with copy method. From this video method you can get useful directions about face patching modeling.

Here you will learn about character rigging in Maya 2012 with some advanced features. The character basic skeleton is created with the help of joints set up. The model is in standing position with stretching arms. The model is now in wireframe mode. The character is rigging from joint set up. There are main joints at wrist, elbow, shoulder point and these joints are used for moving, rotating and stretching the arms for performing any action. It is better to use outliner; it allows you to modify the shape of the model along with joints. Here this tutorial is describing some information about wrist joints and from outliner setup; you can manage the setting for each joint separately.
From shoulder joints the character can be rotated for any kind of job. The chest joint is so elastic that it can be easily rotated for any kind of situation. The same is the case with leg joint set up where you can rotate the leg using rotate tool.
Make sure that other leg is also performing same job by rotating at X-axis. The joint set up is really amazing and it is not necessary that all joint set up should be same; the joints are created according to different character shape. Anyhow the following video is only showing you set up for model rigging in Maya 2012.
As you know that lattice is related to deformers, therefore you can get access to this tool by click in deformer drop down menu. Take NURBS cone from shelf menu, increase the spawn by use mouse. Make sure that animation menu is chosen at that time, go to deformer menu and click for lattice properties.
The lattice properties will be opened in mini dialog box. Check whether the parameter values are similar for height, width and breadth. Go to window menu and choose outliner.
Here you can find further information about given model by clicking on different icon in outliner. If you right click on the NURBs cone, it allows you various options for object modification. Similarly when you click on lattice, there appears lattice point’s modification. The lattice is basically real elastic and you can modify it own your desire. The changing in lattice will be directly applied on NURBs cone. You can watch these affects in this video.
In attribute editor, here you can see the material shape after every assigning material. First of all don’t forget to rename the model because it is bit necessary for any modeling process. In the bottom side, there are plenty of options having different tasks. The character model or simple model can be modified after changing attribute value and ratio here in this section.
The color, lighting, shading and other requirements of the model are managed here quite easily. Use transparency level as white because only in this way you can represent the refraction and transparency concept.
That’s why the model is secular high-lighted. The refraction options are located in the below section of attribute editor where it deals with refraction setting of given model. Few changes here in this section will create busy result in model rendering image. Further setting will be made from hypershade which is also described in given video tutorial.

This tutorial is introducing you with some advanced feature of Maya 2012. We are trying to include and present all the necessary features of Maya here on our site. This specific tutorial is demonstrating substance feature of Maya. This feature is now available in Maya 2012 and we are presenting such scene in which this feature is used properly. The substance manages and restores texture material for the model.

The Substance nodes are located in hyper shade with 2D texture. Maya enables you to get change in new different style after choosing these nodes properly. One selected nodes contains number of parameters which can be increased or decreased on scene demand.

You can manage parameter setting according to your own choice, the substance nodes allows you to get preview of the hyper shade. When the substance nodes are selected, its parameters are automatically highlighted.

The texture can be reset or chose as default for rendering with bitmap format. Using substance nodes, you can either work with existing bitmap. You can see the changing in the texture of the given image after modifying its parameter ratio. This dynamic properties demonstrates the editable and animatable parameters.

Because of substances, there is now available high quality of texture in Maya. The video tutorial is demonstrating same concept of substances.

In this tutorial of Maya 2012, we shall talk about Dynamics and simulation. You would have seen about different useful affects of Maya. These affects are already integrated in Maya application. You just have knowledge about how to use them in your scene. These affects are added in any scene to make it realistic and awesome.

The affects are included in scene with particle system and when you render the scene or play the animation quite similar to the actual scene. The particle system possesses variety of particle affects which are used for creating wind affect, fire, water etc.

you can increase or decrease the speed of the particles by using particle system. The particle is integrated in Maya to create stunning affect in your scene. It is advantage of these affect that when you play the animation, it automatically shows its result. You nothing need to adjust its position with key frame setting.

On the other hand the simulation is another feature of Maya offering you to create splashing of water or other affect like smoke and lighting. When you create simulation affect in your scene, you can increase or decrease the density of affect by resetting the key frame position. The simulation expresses the incompressible material whereas the liquid shows compressible.

When anything is dropped down in the liquid, it increases its density for a while and come back to its previous position after few minutes. Similarly when a solid material hits any other thing, it breaks into pieces which are resultant of simulation. The following video is showing multiple affects of dynamic and simulation, so watch these affects and learns more.

This tutorial is describing some basic concepts of Maya 2012. Hopefully you will familiar with these commands but still anywhere some changes are there. So this tutorial is here to revise these basic commands. There are two main steps for learning in Maya at initial stage.i.e. object manipulation and Camer manipulation. The learners are taught at first about these two concepts and then they can perform further operation in Maya successfully. The camera manipulation is controlled with mouse buttons. On the other hand, the object manipulation tools are available on the left side of the grid. If someone pays no attention to these two function, then they can not become perfect in Maya animation and modeling.

Most similarity in both Maya 2011 and 2012 function and tools, the learners wouldn’t feel any difficulty in using this edition. This video tutorial is very important for the basic learners because only this way they can use Maya at whole. For modeling purpose, there are two types of process, either poly modeling or NURBs modeling. There are main menu setting on the very top left corners of Maya user interface. These menus are changed in case of different modeling. There are different operation performed in this video. So watch this video and learn Maya at all.

This tutorials is 2nd part of Creating an Advanced Arm Rig. we have compeleted 3 stepts in first part and now we will start with setp 4.

4. Close relative handHandleR to the elbowR combined. Once more, decide Modify / Freeze Transformations. Because handHandleR is parented to elbowR, the turning round is set to 0, 0, 0 with no the reorientation of the local turning round axis. (If the turning round axis does shift, the inferior arm bones do not run in a as the crow flies line, or their own local turning round axis is somewhat off.)

5. Choose the wristR combined and show its local turning round axis. Click the axis handle and rotate it so that matches the handHandleR axis. decide Window / General Editors / Connection Editor. Choose the wristR combined and click the refill correct key in the association Editor. Choose the handHandleR and click the refill Left key. Click the Rotate X quality in both the left and right columns. The quality names turn out to be italicized, representative that a association has been complete. do again the procedure for the Rotate Y and Rotate Z attributes. The turning round of the handHandleR ring now drives the turning round of the wristR joint.

6. Decide Skeleton / IK Handle Tool, and click the upArmR combined primary and the forearmR combined subsequent. An IK sequence is haggard flanked by the joints. When you discontinue short of the wrist combined, the forearm is not tied up up for turning round. choose the IK grip. Rename it armIKR, and decide Modify / Freeze Transformations.

7. Unlock the Hypergraph sight Hierarchy window. Choose the effector1 node, which is parented to the elbowR joint. Unhide it by choosing Display / Show / Show Selection. The effector is haggard as a little X in the workplace vision. Push the put in input. The turn tip for the effector becomes able to be seen. Shift the pivot so that it sits in the middle of the wrist combined. The IK grip is mechanically enthused to the new location. Motionless though the IK sequence ends at the forearm combined, the IK grip is now at the wrist. This allows you to stay the IK handle in a customary location while release up the forearm joint for turning round. If there was no forearm combined, and if the IK ran from the upArmR combined to the wristR combined, no self-governing forearm turning round would be probable.
