Here you will find number of tutorials about Maya dynamic and nDynamic. This particular tutorial is also among one of them. Generally the dynamic is defined as lively, active, self-motivated, energetic, vibrant, forceful, and full of life. In Maya the features that controls all matter related to Physics lie under Maya dynamic. In Maya you can express almost all kind of concepts in Maya such as quantum physics to space science. According to Maya applications, our world is like world of 3 dimensions. We also know that our space has 3 coordinates X,Y and Z. Now when the time is included into space we find motion. Simple traditional animation is assumed as normal motion in general way. But when the animation is created with complex types of motions such as water flow, air blow, smokes, clouds, particles flow, gusts, wafts, puffs, blusters, propels, fire effects, fireworks, gravitational effects and all motions like those are handled within Dynamics and nDynamics feature of Maya. When you are going to work in dynamic or nDynamic category, make sure that main menu setting is under the dynamic or nDynamic menu. Only in this way you can work with Maya dynamics. In the end of this tutorial, Maya dynamic category is linked so that you could get help properly.
You will learn here how to use them in easy and complex modeling. The nCloth modifier is already integrated in Maya. With an extra attention, you can understand the way it works. We are presenting its introduction in easy to learn method, so that you could learn about nCloth in Maya. Go to polygon primitives and choose polygonal plane there. Now apply triangulate mesh to this plane as well as smooth mesh to find more option to work. This will create wonderful combination of mesh. Go to main menu and choose nDynamic. Next go to nMesh and in drop down list choose nCloth modifier. When you right click on the object, it shows you some extra option and commands. Select all vertices and go to timeline setting.

Adjust the position of nCloth and play the animation. You will see nCloth modifier affects in your scene. You can apply gravity affects to your scene. For this purpose, we take sphere from polygonal primitives and use it as ball. The gravity is not yet applied on this primitive, so assign gravity affect to this scene. Now play the animation and you will see that sphere (ball) tore off nCloth modifier plane. There is many other affect which are shown in this video to go to video and learn the concept.

We are using Autodesk Maya for hair modeling. Maya provides you comprehensive way for your model and you can use its plug-in in many projects. We are using such technique that you will be able to create it at own after this. The hair is also plug in Maya and it is up to you that how and where you can use it in your project. When you have assigned this plug in to your character, then render your scene. The rendering is final step of Maya where you can examine your ability and talent. Sometimes the object takes enough time for rendering so don’t worry and be patient. The rendering result will be opened in a step. You can use simple render process for such hair modeling but Maya also allows you to use further and advanced rendering application. These applications are I-Ray, V-Ray and Mental Ray etc. You can control rendering setting from render setup. You can make your hair application as thicken or thinner according to your scene requirement. You can manage the hair setting by changing the head into wire frame mode because it is easy way for your modeling. For further details, watch this video tutorial.

Select the red sphere in the scene and delete it

Create a New NURBS or Poly Sphere from create Menu

Move the sphere over the last step of the staircase

Go the Fields Menu and open up its options

Go to the edit menu of option’s window select reset settings

Hit create

Note: you have assigned the gravity to your object. The staircase is already a passive rigid body. If you are using your own staircase or other object you should make your ground object a passive rigid body first, For this purpose Go to Soft/Rigid bodies menu and select create passive rigid body. For this staircase you have no need to make a rigid body from it.

Play the animation and check the result

You still need to make changes in attributes of Gravity Field from channel box

Change the magnitude to 5

Select sphere

Go to channel box

Under the shapes inputs find the bounciness

Change the bounciness to 0.8

Play the animation and check the result

Again make a change in X Velocity attribute and check the result

Ultimately put the value 3 to X velocity attribute

At the end change the Center of Mass to 0 in all 3 axes

Play the animation

That’s it

This tutorial is going to show you about 3d animation of billiard balls using Maya. We are using dynamic tools for performing this job. Maya dynamic is actually term of Maya but it is not directly proportion to Dynamic menu. It is applied under animation menu set and related mostly to animation tools and commands. There are many similarities in simple Maya and Maya dynamics, you are well aware of simple animation. The Maya dynamic animation belongs to special animation commands performing in certain conditions. Here we shall demonstrate Maya dynamics animation with simple example of billiard balls collision. The balls collide with one another with the velocity control of ball 3d animation with respect to three axes in 3d animation and modeling in Maya. Let’s start the tutorial without wasting your time. Go to shelf menu bar and choose polygonal cube. Drag it on the grid and then stretch it according to your needs. Once you have done the job, then select the face and extrude it inward to make actual shape of billiard stand. Go to create menu and click on NURBs primitives and then choose NURBS spheres for the modeling of billiard balls. This tutorial will show you a passive body which is static and that is board roughly made for the tutorial and other all objects are active rigid bodies and they are simply balls make for applying active rigid body on them. At the end you will give a little velocity of one of active rigid bodies and you will see the collision between all objects because of dynamics physics applied in Maya. For further detail, Go to given video and view the whole process to learn and create this concept properly.

The particles system is plug in command of Maya. The particles are generated for the expression of realistic scene like cloud, smoke, water and others. There is proper particles affects in Maya which allows you to use them for specific scene in certain conditions. At the time of particle applying, these are just like particles but when you create animation among them they look like a real scene with quick time. The particles system requires an emitter for the origin of these particles and this emitter controls the effects at whole. To bring real effects in your scene, Maya provides a variety of physical phenomena using particle system. These particles effects are not limited to one purpose you can use it for various purpose at the same time. The particles are assumed as an atom because of smallest size of effects but when its huge cluster of effects changes into specific scene it is called molecule. It is just observation not sure; so we were talking about emitters which control the effects in a certain direction. We can change the direction for the sake of scene demand. The basic primitives are just a simple object in itself, but when we change it into soft body dynamic effects; we come to know that it has variety of particles in it. So take other particles effects and turn them into real scene effect like cloud, smoke, water and fire.

Dynamic animation uses rules of physics to simulate natural forces. You state the actions you wish for the object to get, then let the software work out how to animate the object.Dynamic animation allows you to produce practical motion that’s hard to get with regular key-frame animation. For example, you can create effects such as tumbling dice, waving flags, and exploding fireworks. From this place you will find a series of tutorials on Dynamics and nDynamics of Maya software. Maya dynamics will lead you towards the real world flow. In actual Maya dynamics is like real world physics. You may assign velocity, momentum, gravity, fire, smoke, water and many unbelievable features of dynamics field. This portion is about the basics of dynamics contains the fundamental elements and introductions of dynamics as well as the essentials of Maya dynamics and nDynamics. There is proper main menu category in Maya and before creating such effects, you have to set the main menu as dynamics. The dynamic menu manages full control system for this purpose. If you are learning Maya and yet learning dynamic then you will understand that concept easily by performing dynamic effects in Maya. For more detail given dynamic category link is here for complete guidance of the users.

The purpose of this tutorial is to describe the simulation and animation techniques for the learners of Maya. We have a scene in which models are nearly adjusted and we are required to create simulation among these models. So in this way you will learn how to simulate the object in 3d scene. The scene describes such situation where we have cannon and a board as target, on the other hand a small barrel which we want to drop into drum lying below. We want to simulate in such way that if the cannon shot fire the barrel should fell into drum. In this act gravity is used for attracting force between the barrel and drum. To create gravity in our scene, first select the ground and then choose gravity level for our scene. Take a test simulation before applying gravity, when we shot the ball, it fell down but after gravity effects the result was change. It fell down due to rigid body setting. Reverse the animation pointer at its former place. The ball hits any one edges therefore it drags away. Adjust the initial velocity into minus figure and check out the result. It is still far away from the target level. It requires many techniques to adjust whole apparatus for final simulation. Increase the key frames number at the time of smooth simulation. After doing its adjustment, then play the final animation and you will see that cannon ball hit the target in quick time and in result of the barrel fell down into drum.

We are required to show you about dynamic affects of rigid bodies in this tutorial. We have pre-made scene in our drive, let’s check it out and examine its different aspect. The scene have polygonal plane as a surface whereas the cone is used as striking object. The gravity effect is being used in this scene to make the object spin after collided with surface. Play the animation and cone is bouncing after it hits the plane. Close the scene and open a new file to make it again in 3d studio max. Go to polygon primitive and choose polygonal plane which appears on the grid. Scale it with scale tool or press “R” as short key to scale the object. Next go to again polygonal primitives and choose polygonal cone there. Rotate the cone at 180 degree, move the cone to straight up side of plane. The first and foremost thing here is to create gravity tool for bouncing of object between cone and plane. Gravity tool is added to create pulling effect in your scene, otherwise the object will be remain on the surface after first hitting the ground. Adjust key frames at your own choice and then assign them for animation. It hits the ground and bounces for little while so increase the key frame number and check the result. It is not creating pleasant impression in scene. Try some other primitives as medium of striking. They are kept in the path of falling cone; the cone hits the prism and fall far away from striking area. Try another experiment and use polygonal pipe as medium of striking effects. You will see that when the pipe hits the other primitives, it becomes out of control and spins for long time. It is required for us to teach you and video is also given for this purpose.
