<p>This is introductory tutorial of Birail tool. Birail tool is used for creating NURBs surfaces and their editing. This tool is included in Maya in advanced version of Maya and other 3D software. Many new problems are increasing day by day in place of old ones. The people are getting skill to meet these problems. In Maya surface menu, there are many powerful tools for creating new surface with CV curves in Maya. These surfaces are used in Maya at larger scale. Birail Tool makes a surface by extensive edges by a series of profile curves along two path curves. The consequential surface can support durability with other surfaces. The Birail Tool has options for sweeping 1, 2, or 3 or more cross partial curves along the two path called rail curves. The important surface is interpolated through the profile curves. Options put the pressure the profile curves have on the middle profiles of the shaped surface. A value of 1.0 means the primary selected profile curve has a greater pressure than the second profile curve. A value of 0 has the differing effect. By default, both selected profiles have an identical pressure value of 0.5. This option is obtainable only for a surface shaped with the Birail 2 Tool. NURBs 3d modeling is a term of 3d modeling, in NURBs 3d modeling curved faces and edge and vertex are formed using NURBs modeling tools and commands in Maya and other 3d computer graphics software applications. In this 3d modeling there is two way to start 3d modeling of any object. One is using the NURBs primitives i.e. starting with NURBs cube, NURBs sphere, NURBs cylinder etc. and other one method is NURBs 3d modeling using the CV (control vertex) curve tool and EP (Edit Point) curve tool. NURBs are Non Uniform Rational Basics Splines, and spline means a flexible curve that can be shaped without breaking it at any place. That curves are called NURBs curves or CV Curves. We have a CV curve tool in create menu of Maya. We always draw a NURBs or CV curve on some 2-dimensional surface such as a paper or canvas or sheet or something else like that. Editing NURBs curves means that we can have a lot of tools in Maya’s surfaces menu set that allows us to edit a curve before converting it into some 3 dimensional shapes which will be a surface definitely.</p>
<p> CV curves are frequently used for making a profile. It’s in most cases a profile curve. We create a profile curve for our model which have in our mind and then on our paper or perhaps on any type of 2 dimensional surface. We draw a profile curve with CV tool on our drawing and when we are satisfied with our profile curve we convert it into surface. This way we get a 3 Dimensional NURBS surface from Curves. Editing a curve means enhancing its shape before converting it into some 3 dimensional shapes. Maya give us a lot of tools for modifying and editing our curves.</p>

<li>Create a NURBS Sphere with 20 sections and 16 spans</li>

Modeling provides you such facility that you can perform real look of object in 3D modeling in Maya. There are several methods for modeling and all of them are used at specific time with certain condition. If you are going to create any kind of modeling about machinery then NURBs modeling is the best option for you to perform such job. It will apply upon the project from starting point to final stage. As you know that in NURBs we take start from CV curve and then apply bevel and extrude commands for the structure of real image. The starting curve is also called profile curve and it is frequently used by engineering projects. There are three parts of sea ship and here we are in very first part of it where we are just telling you about some important techniques in it. The next two parts will inform you about working stage with gradually. The modeling is actually resulting of basic primitives of polygons and NURBs. These primitives are available in their relevant command or you can get access to them by choosing them from shelf menu bar. In NURBs modeling, the method is little bit different from 	polygonal modeling.IN NURBs modeling the object is first created with CV curve and then it is rounded by applying revolve commands. At this stage, it is completed but with rough look, therefore we can modify its shape more by applying bevel and extrude commands on its faces. When we are required to create NURBs modeling applying extrude command, then first of all we create CV curve there where we want modeling. The similarity in curve shape doesn’t matter. Now select the curve and apply extrude command, and you see that proper result is in front of you. The method for their component level helps us to find detail. There are proper main menus of polygons and NURBs. The NURBs are actually olden name of surface, and now a day in latest version of Maya, there is surface menu with multiple commands. The component level tells us about detail of object. If you want to find component level of object then just right click on the object and choose editable poly. There are three component level of the object known as vertices, face and edge.<br />
 This method is for polygonal object in 3d modeling. At this stage, we shall know about vertices, edge and face of polygonal object. The vertices are assumed as just like boundary line of the object and edge is defined as connecting point. The vertices come into existence with the combination of edge and vertices. When we are required to construct the object, we make the shape of the object by the adjustment of their component level. There are also other primitives of the NURBS in create Menu these are CV (control vertex) curve tool, EP (edit point) curve tool and point curve tool using this tool you have to give two or three point for creating a curve between these points. This tool was first launched for working in Corel DRAW and later on it has been using in AutoCAD for several year. The trim tools are used for trimming of some part in the model. Later on, it was brought into Autodesk Maya where it is using in place of NURBS. The NURBS are actually similar name for surface and it is changed now in latest version as surface. The surface is now added into main menu set and when you choose surface as main menu, the rest of setting also changes along with main menu. The trim tools lie in Edit NURBS menu which helps us for trimming something. Usually we use trim tool for cutting the doors, windows, panes, sockets, exhaust holes, and much more. But it is just an idea. Trim tool gives you a very wide experience to do something different. You can model a multi storey building with trim tool by using it again and again on particular area and in this way you may get a much summarized shape for your multi story tower or building.</p>

The curve is drawn with CV curve only in this condition if the object is in grid mode.  So convert the object into grid mode using magnet tools. Go to create panel and choose CV curve and draw a line. If you look upon that curve, you will come to know that the curve has two manipulating handles which tell us that the curve is two dimensional. Go back to magnet tool and bring the model to back position.  Now we trim the curve by using command from Edit NURBS menu. In this case you should first click the curve then with shift selected click on surface. We have created newly projected surface. Moreover video will guide you in case of any problem.</p>

This tutorial is concerning with NURBS,which is computer graphical application for creating curves and surface for representing in free hand modeling with elasticity. NURBS are mathematical modeling application which helps one to study and analysis the surface of the object. Either it is its interior side or exterior. For example the designers use this application mostly because they care of every side and surface of the object. The NURBS are modified with respect to its components. There are much difference between NURBS and polygonal components. The channel box is used for changing values of components. The NURBS is in fact short form of Non-Uniform Rational Based Splines. NURBS were used in CAD and other construction purpose software because it is thought suitable for designing and mapping function. But later on it was brought in use in other graphics purposes. The connecting point of control polygon is called control point. Here you can also understand the concept of polygonal components. The sides of polygon are called edges, the connection of edges are called vertices whereas the centre of all vertices are called face. The same are defined in NURBS modeling. The experts want an easy and quick modeling within real time; therefore they use NURBS in their modeling. Even you can create human modeling using NURBS with accuracy. The major difference between poly model and NURBS model that polygon is drawn in straight line whereas the NURBS are curved in shape. The NURBS modeling is drawn with CV curve.
