Mostly NURBs deals with Faces but this specific part is different from custom situation. According to the video, there are different objects on which we shall apply face modification commands. You have to follow these guiding steps. There are five polygonal objects here in our scene. So select polygonal sphere and go to edit mesh menu and click on cut faces tool. Now select the sphere and you will see that cutting line will be appeared to cut faces wherever you want. Go to edit mesh menu again and then cut faces tool properties. The properties will be appeared in mini dialog box with various options. The first one is about cutting of face in middle so check the relevant box and sphere will be cut into two pieces. Here we also cut the sphere with respect to their axes. You have to move attribute to or fro and object will be cut according to given condition. We can cut the faces with respect to any condition. This is due to options given in cut face tools properties. For more detail about how to use the cut face tool, please refer to Maya help file.

There are two types of modeling in Maya, NURBs modeling and Polygonal modeling. These two types of modeling are directly related to main menu setting. You can adopt them by choosing from main menu setting. If you are old user, then you will be definitely familiar of surfaces. These surfaces are now known as NURBs in latest version of Maya. The method to create these modeling is totally different from each other. The NURBs modeling is created with CV curves which are located in create menu drop down list. Here you can create CV curves at first and then apply different commands on it. You can modify it for different kind of modeling. Maya offers you different commands for modifying object. Hence the users astonish of its wonderful modeling. On the contrary, polygonal modeling is created with polygonal primitives. These primitives are located on the top of user interface in shelf menu. You may also find these primitives from polygon menu drop down list. It offers you a lot of primitives which can be modified with object manipulation tools. These tools are located on left side of user interface. The object manipulation tools deal with move, rotate and scale tool.
The concept is split into 10 part and this is very first part of the series. In this part we shall discuss only about necessary tips and instruction about airplane modeling. The model is being created with reference image using sketched technique. The image is first drawn onto paper or other medium and then it is opened in Maya. When you open the image into orthographic viewport, there you can see all the necessary viewports of the object. The sketched image is made in Adobe Photoshop and when you have done this job, opens it into Maya. The sketch helps us very much in our project. You can also create map and sketches for construction material purpose. You can use Adobe Photoshop for this purpose. As you know that sketch is of black n white color, you can increase or decrease the color scheme setting for the best of your scene setting. Adobe Photoshop is also very helpful for cropping the image of desired area. The image setting can be done beautifully in Adobe Photoshop. So in this part you learnt about how to draw sketch image for your model.

The detail requires enough time and space so the concept is split into two parts and this tutorial is mainly describing the polygon and it components. The main difference between both of them is that polygon is basic element in modeling while the NURBs is olden term of surface. Now in latest versions of Maya, there is proper main menu set of surface with multiple function and commands. The polygon is sub menu of modeling category and it provides us basic polygonal primitive for our modeling where later on we modify their shape to make desired model.

The polygonal primitives are also located on the shelf menu at above of Maya user interface. There are subdivision setting on the shelf in tabs which gives us large collection of primitive by clicking on related tab. When we select the primitive from shelf menu or polygon menu, it automatically lies in the centre of the grid. There, you can modify the shape of the object by using object manipulation tool locating on the left side of the grid. If you want to work in all viewport, you can choose orthographic viewport in the bottom of object manipulating tools or you can get access easily by short cut key of space bar.So this was some basic information of polygonal modeling and next part we shall read about NURBs modeling because the both are very adequate essential in Maya modeling.Watch the following video giving you information about Polygon modeling in Maya.

It includes “extrude” and “insert edge loop” along with basic move, rotate and scale. We start foot modeling with polygonal cube because it belongs to poly modeling category of Maya. Every time when we are going to create modeling we take start from side viewport because it makes us easy to work fluently. Create polygonal cube and position it properly in almost every viewport. In this way object manipulation will be used frequently for the adjustment of polygonal cube for foot. The geometry should be simple because it will make your work easy and comprehensive when you use it from extruding and bevel purpose. Create edge loop tool on the upper side of the polygonal cube to make lower part of leg. The edge loop tool will provide you a new face, so select the face and move it upward position. Add some more geometry by extruding it outward position. Select the edges and drag it ahead to make a reference for toes. Select the faces of the reference to make perfect toes. This tutorial is describing just about overview of Maya foot modeling, for complete guidance watch this video.
These character models are the source of animation and help us out to produce illusion of animation in our scene. In Maya modeling you learnt now about almost every part of human teeth modeling parts but teeth modeling are not known by many of learners and users. Although it is small topic of modeling but still it is necessary to learn it for perfect modeling. This tutorial belongs to the solution of such problem, where you will learn about teeth modeling. The building of teeth is depended upon character facial look; some have long teeth whereas other has small teeth. Whatever the situation, the method of building teeth is nearly same and easy. The teeth modeling are created only in this case if the character is smiling or laughing because the teeth appear only in this case, otherwise we don’t need of building teeth. Go to polygonal primitive and choose pipe. Scale the pipe inward position and minimize it. Using move tool, adjust its position properly, go to channel box and adjust its setting. The pipe has a lot of polygons in tooth shape, select them one by one and set its component level. It will make teeth modeling realistic and perfect, you can reshape them at your desire.
In this tutorial we are required to explain the head modeling of female face. First of all we think it necessary to tell you that this tutorial is here in two parts and this is first part of all. We shall create sculpt for head modeling. As usual go to houseoftutorial.net for taking a reference image for your modeling. There you will find head modeling image and you can take them from any other site also. Download the image from there and save it into your drive. Similarly click the side view image and save it also as side of female head model. Make a new folder for existing file of this project. Go to file menu and choose new scene. It will appear on the screen with default setting, adjust the setting according to the dimension of your project, rename it and press Ok. We need texture effect for our model therefore open the existing reference image folder and drag the image to material editor for texturing. Take two limber and when you right click over them it offers you to rename it. Name these limbers as front and side view of sculpt. Now drag front image and link it with front limber, similarly side limber is for side view of sculpt. Go to polygonal plane and scale it according to your size. Use rotate tool to bring this plane at 90 degree. Right click on that plane and assign selected material as front. The front sculpt will be assigned to that plane. Do the same with next plane and in this way we have got still image for our modeling. Proper model will be designed in next part.

We shall now do final work on the modeling of handcart. Select the front faces to extrude them to make an arm for handcart. Go to edit mesh menu and choose extrude command. Select blue manipulating icon and drag it outward. Now we want to unhide our previous model of wheel. Go to outliner and check the wheel icon there which will be in blue color. Don’t forget to rename it because it will help you to find the related icon easily. Next go to channel box and change the visibility from off to on.
The wheel will be appeared, now select the handle and move them on Z axis backward. The edges of the handle are still rough and hard, so to make them round shape, choose bevel command. Next we need rear handle, so select front face and extrude it to Z-axis. Change the size setting also by using move and scale tools. Go to extrude command again and extrude the selected faces towards Z-axis. Create another cylinder on the origin and scale its size. Adjust this cylinder in the wheel like an axle. Make duplicate copy of cylinder and move it towards rear side at backward position. Select different parts and go to mesh menu and choose combined command which will make them in group shape. Using rotate tool, move the rear handle at up position. In next tutorial we shall work for the animation of this handcart.
