In this lesson you are going to model a simple room window for a general idea of working with polygons. Though it’s a simple window but you will learn a lot about architectural modeling in Maya in this lesson. When we model the object or room we have to choose specific primitives for them. In earlier, only 3Ds max and AutoCAD were used for the modeling of room or building modeling but later on in Maya was proposed among best of all. If you want to model a simple room, you can use polygonal cube as wall and roof. The objects details help you to apply extrude, bevel and chamfer commands to finish your task successfully. We are also introducing these tools again in this tutorial for the ease of Maya learners. Poly editing tools are preferred in video games industries. There are many benefits of using Polygons in your modeling.<br />
The poly editing tools are as; Bevel tool, Extrude edge tool, Extrude face tool and Paint selection tool. We have taught you in our previous lesson about poly model and polygon modeling which are created under the application of poly editing tools. Bevel tools are applied at such condition when edges of the object are sharp and it requires to split them for the beauty of your model. If you are learning Maya, then you have heard about poly modeling object. Polygon is great feature of Maya application. It is considered as separate application in Maya. It has detailed information in it, and when you create Maya project with polygon effects, and then it provides you vast space for its exposure. Polygons are actually straight geometrical 2d shape; you can learn it by drawing it onto paper. The polygons have 3d points on their connected point which is called vertices. The outer line segment is known as edge and core region of polygon is called face. So you can say that vertices, edges and faces are the important components of polygons. When you choose polygon for any geometrical shape, you can modify the polygonal object by bringing change in the vertices, edges and faces. <p style="text-align: justify;">We are here with another interesting topic of Maya, creating internal illusion of room in Maya using polygonal modeling. We start our lesson by taking polygonal cube for the modeling of our room. Scale the cube and select its front faces and hit delete because we have no need of them more in our scene. Now we have two walls and ground of the room in our scene. Next we shall create some other items for room decoration e.g. table, lamp etc. Hide the room modeling and take another polygonal cube and shrink it in down way position. It is because we shall use it for top of our table. Select the edges of cube and bevel it. Using curve, create leg drawing for table. Then select the curve and apply round, this will make the leg shape perfectly. Don’t forget to delete previous history, select the leg modeling and with shift selected make copy of it for other three legs. We have created table modeling successfully, unhide the room modeling and place the table there and grouped it with whole modeling. Next we need to draw table lamp for our modeling. Using cylinder, you can make stand of your lamp. Create sphere to bend the lamp modeling. Using basic and simple techniques you will be able to create complete lamp modeling. Again unhide the scene and bring lamp model there and grouped them mutually. With move tool, place the lamp properly in the corner of table. Press 5 to bring the model into shaded mode. Choose new and permanent camera for your scene view. In next part we shall teach you how to assign material to your room modeling, so stay here and learn more.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">This tutorial is here to show you about concept of extrude polygon along curve in you scene. We extrude the object from to find a new shape from previous. The faces of the object are selected first then it is extruded inward or outward to give the required shape. The extrusion helps us to get any shape from still or fixed object. There are much uses of extrude option in Maya projects. The extrusion process can not be applied on hollow or empty surface, because they are not supported by extrusion principle. The extrusion of the object makes the object lengthy or smaller and it depends upon the condition of the project.<br />
It is thought that scaling of objects and extrusion are in similar meaning and they are using for same purpose but according to the experts both of them are much different from one another in many ways. The scaling of object refers to change only size of the object whereas the extrusion applies only selected faces and polygon and it doesn’t belongs to whole geometry of object. In earlier the objects were heated for extrusion in normal life and then it is pulled to make it lengthy and straighten. Anyway, now we are going to use extrusion in Maya projects. <p>Creating spiral stair with maya is very simple, we just rotate the numbers of object’s copies on appropriate angle and we get spiral steps of being experimented object on one click.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Just create a polygon cube on the origin then go to the duplicate object command and from options change the angle of being copied object according to your need and then increase the copies according to your requirement as well. That’s it. Now click the button duplicate and you will find a sequence of objects in an array. Changing angle of object, increasing the numbers of copies and making them the duplicates of object is a well known way of AutoCAD users to make arrays of objects. We actually make an array around the axis by putting some angle values to its duplicate copies.</p>

<p>Poly editing tools means polygon editing tools in Maya. We edit poly meshes with these tools. There is no way to construct an item without the help of editing tools.</p>

<p>Polygons are a term of geometry but vastly used in graphics. Maya has a  great feature on polygons.Maya’s Polygon feature is like a great software application itself. If someone chooses Polygon Modeling as life career, it should be more than sufficient because Polygon Modeling in Maya (3d modeling and animation software) gives you an unlimited exposure to get more and more knowledge and skill. It’s possible but you must have idea. If you have idea than Maya claims to give you the limit of sky for your Master Piece of Work (MPW) and of course sky has no limits. Polygons are straight geometrical 2 dimensional shapes. </p>
<p>You can draw easily a polygon on paper. The core region of the polygon is known as face. Vertices, edges, and faces are the basic elements of polygons. You pick and adjust or modify polygons using these basic elements, vertices, edges and faces, that are generally called polygon’s components.</p>
