Understanding primitives in Maya

Nadeem | Jun 08, 2011 | Comments 0

Learn here about Maya primitives and see how beautifully we understand you primitives of Maya. The primitives are central part of any modeling because they are used in the modeling of any simple as well as complex modeling. Primitives are defined as integrated object of Maya. These primitives are included as sphere, cube, cone, cylinder and prism etc. Maya provides you both types of primitives at the same time either in 3D or 2D. These primitives are held by two main categories Polygon and NURBS. The primitives for polygon and NURBS are of different kind and use. The primitives help us to study the object in detail and also tell us about how it creates and based. Here you need to use your conceptual idea for creating modeling, i.e. suppose you want to create room modeling then it is better to use polygonal cube for its perfect modeling. These primitives can be modified for changing the shape of the object, the general and custom method for modifying is through transforming tools. But the experts recommend channel box to get the object setting at your desire. It also provides accuracy in your model position. When you place different values there you see that object is also modifying with respect to their co-ordinates. The polygonal primitives are also found on shelf menu and you can take them from there. But when you are required to customize user interface then sometime you have to split it for obtaining open area for working. The related video link is given in the end to show you this concept visually.
