The following tutorial deals with texturing of gun model in Maya. The model is designed and now only texturing and coloring required to apply for better rendering process.
You can see that this gun is fulfilling every requirements of perfect model, it has faces and edge etc. if you right click on the model and it offers you some option to modify it at advanced level.
Convert this model into faces. The uv editor texture shows you detailed image of this model and when you convert the model into wireframe mode, the UV texture shows regular image. The UV mapping affects are located on shelf menu and there are four kinds of mapping affects.
The first affect is used to map the object from six different directions. The second map deal to map the model in spherical format.
The third one is for cylindrical format and last one allows you to map plane format.
At present, we are using automatic projection for normal mapping in Maya. The gun model is designed with the help of billions of polygon setting which is high definition geometry for any kind of modeling.
Open UV texture editor and use it for texturing your model in perfect way as told in given video tutorial.
