Video-Persp and Orthographic Views

Ameen | Jun 25, 2011 | Comments 0

Learn here about Maya basic concept of its viewport. This tutorial is here to introduce the beginners with Maya user interface and viewport setting. The workspace where you work is called user interface. Sometime because of many toolbars and menu bars, you have narrow space to work. In this case you can customize the interface for wide range of user interface and these toolbar can be closed by clicking on left top icon of these toolbars. When you choose any object, it appears on the grid which is called prospective view. Similarly you can see that object into four views i.e. side, top and front viewports collectively called orthographic view. The orthographic viewport allows you to work in four viewports for the sake of accuracy. The shortcut key to convert the prospective viewport with orthographic viewport is spacebar from keyboard. The menu changes with viewport application and it allows us to work with relevant menu. The first menu is “view” which helps you to adjust camera setting and can view the previous or next view easily. The select camera option offers you to create animation with custom method. The camera manipulation is first priority for the learner to learn it for further experiment of modeling and animation at next stage. If we have used these three functions of camera manipulation and want to bring back your viewport setting in previous position then press “[“ key and for next view press “]” key. If we talk about object manipulation, the process is little bit difference but easy to use. The basic primitives are provided by shelf menu bar and when they are selected on the grid, they are in wire frame mode. We can shade it by using shading menu or simply press short key “5” The object manipulation tools are located on the left side of user interface. These tools are move, rotate and scale tools and each one has their specific function at specific stage. The menu bar on the top of user interface is specifically for camera manipulation. The detailed video for camera and object manipulation is located below the content to provide you visual of the whole process.
